About FPTI

As FPTI continues to grow, numerous achievements have been made at both national and international levels. Domestically, the National Championship (Kejurnas) and Age Group National Championship have been consistently held. Internationally, Indonesian athletes have excelled in competitions at the Asian and even world levels. These achievements must be well maintained through continuous development programs, a tiered national competition system, and participation in international competitions at both the Asian and World Series levels.


1988

The Indonesian Climbing Federation was officially established on April 21, 1988, under the name Federasi Panjat Tebing dan Gunung Indonesia (FPTGI).

1990

In 1990, the name was changed to Federasi Panjat Tebing Indonesia (FPTI).

1994

FPTI officially became a member of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) in 1994, becoming its 50th member. FPTI is responsible for the administration and development of all aspects related to sport climbing and national climbing competitions, holding authority over all national climbing events. holding authority over all national climbing events.

2018

Sport climbing was first contested at the Asian Games. Sport climbing was contested for the first time at the Asian Games. At the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta - Palembang, the events included Speed WR, Speed Relay, and Boulder, held at Jakabaring Stadium - Palembang. The Indonesian national climbing team won three gold medals in the Women’s Speed WR, Women’s Speed Relay, and Men’s Speed Relay categories.

2019

At the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Xiamen, China (Saturday, 19 October 2019), Aries Susanti Rahayu broke the Women’s Speed World Record with a time of 6.995 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 7.101 seconds, held by YiLing Song (China).

Alfian Muhammad Fajri and Aries Susanti Rahayu ranked third in the world in the Speed World Record category in 2019.

2021

In the final round of the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Salt Lake City, USA (2021), the all-Indonesian final between Veddriq Leonardo and Kiromal Katibin saw Veddriq setting a new Men’s Speed World Record with a time of 5.208 seconds. This broke the previous record set by Kiromal Katibin in the qualification round (5.258 seconds), improving the time by 0.050 seconds (28 May 2021).

 

2022

Kiromal Katibin broke the Men’s Speed WR world record with a time of 5.17 seconds in the second qualification session of the IFSC World Cup 2022 in Seoul, South Korea (Friday, 6 May 2022).

At the IFSC World Cup 2022 in Villars, Switzerland (Thursday, 30 June), Kiromal Katibin recorded the fastest world time in the men’s speed category, clocking 5.09 seconds in the first qualification round, and improving it further to 5.04 seconds in the second round.

At the IFSC World Cup 2022 in Chamonix, France (Friday, 8 July), Kiromal Katibin once again improved the world record in the qualification round, recording 5.00 seconds.

 

2024

Veddriq Leonardo won gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday afternoon (8 August 2024 WIB) with a record time of 4.75 seconds in the Men’s Speed category, marking Indonesia’s debut in Olympic sport climbing.
