FPTI National Working Meeting 2024: FPTI Designs Strategic Programs to Prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics
Jakarta – The 2024 National Working Meeting of the Indonesian Climbing Federation (FPTI) was officially opened on Tuesday, December 3 at the Royal Kuningan Hotel, Jakarta. The opening was marked by the striking of the gong by Yenny Wahid, President of the FPTI. This year’s Rakernas will discuss various organizational strategies for moving forward into 2025.
It is known that throughout 2024, Indonesian climbing has achieved extraordinary success, notably securing a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This Olympic milestone is historic for FPTI, not only because it marks the organization’s first participation in the Olympics, but also because they succeeded in winning a gold medal. This incredible achievement has not only made FPTI proud as a sporting body but also raised Indonesia’s name on the global stage.
In addition to sport climbing, FPTI has also made significant progress in the development of natural rock climbing and recreation. This year, FPTI will publish a climbing book titled “Tebing Alam Indonesia” (Natural Cliffs of Indonesia). This book is a reflection of FPTI’s commitment to promoting the beauty of Indonesia’s natural cliffs while reinforcing FPTI’s role in the development of recreational climbing activities.
Given the achievements of 2024, FPTI is focusing its efforts on preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
Yenny Wahid, President of the FPTI, emphasized that to prepare for this, FPTI will focus on strengthening athlete development, competition systems, and the facilities and infrastructure for climbing sports.
“We must ensure the development of athletes, the strengthening of the competition system, and the structured and directed development of climbing facilities and infrastructure,” Yenny said when asked about the agenda to be discussed at the 2024 Rakernas.
As for natural climbing and recreation, Yenny believes that FPTI needs to expand its scope to make it more accessible to the general public, more inclusive, and promote an active lifestyle within society.
Yenny further emphasized that the design of all FPTI work programs for 2025 must be conducted through collective deliberation within the FPTI organization. Therefore, she urged the Rakernas participants to contribute constructive ideas, suggestions, and feedback during the 2024 FPTI National Working Meeting.
In addition to Yenny, several distinguished guests were present, including Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Indonesia, Taufik Hidayat, FPTI Central Board Patron Kaesang Pangarep, Deputy Chairman of FPTI Central Board, Irjen Pol. Dr. Herry Heryawan, S.I.K, M.H., M.Hum, and Deputy of the Natural Climbing Division, FPTI Central Board, Rocky Gerung.
